York Dungeon are the BEST BAR NONE (Officially!!!)

We are very proud to share that on the 5th May 2026, the York Dungeon achieved the Best Bar None accreditation, which means that we are a licensed venue who demonstrate a commitment to providing a safe, welcoming and responsible environment for our guests (even when we may threaten the odd spot of torture, execution and being held up by Highwaymen!).

Our General Manager Mark told us:

"We would not have achieved this without the continued dedication and hard work of our 'orrible team, who have fully embraced the task of operating not just in the daytime, but also as an exciting and engaging, evening entertainment venue.

Well done and thank you to all of our team of Dungheads, and to our wider Merlin Entertainments colleagues, who continue to offer incredible, inclusive and safe experiences to all who dare to enter the depths of the Dungeon....."

And then, in June at the inaugural York BID BEST BAR NONE Awards, the York Dungeon was shortlisted in the Special Recognition and Best Overall Venue categories, and then took home the Best Entertainment Venue award!

Mark went on to tell us:

"It was a real honour to collect our Best Bar None Accredited Venue award for the York Dungeon last night at Impossible York, and even better to find out we had been shortlisted in the Special Recognition and Best Overall Venue categories, and to take home the Best Entertainment Venue Award as well!
