York Dungeon and Local Business Partners Clean up on World Ocean's Day
- Monday 8th June 2026
Today we marked #WorldOceansDay with our second riverside clean event of 2026!
The York Dungeon were joined by volunteers from York Gin, the Grand Opera House York and York City Rowing Club! Thank you so much to Emma, Allie and Kate for bringing your teams along to help out! And to our three 4-legged friends who joined us too.
We collected 25kg of rubbish today, 10kg of recyclable material and 15kg of other general waste, all of which has been disposed of in our bins meaning it won't be blown or knocked into the Rivers Ouse or Foss and thus polluting our seas and oceans.
It was encouraging to see that there was noticeably less rubbish around today compared to our last few litter picks, hopefully a trend that continues!
Thank you as ever to the team at the SEA LIFE TRUST for inspiring us and organising these events, you do amazing work!
