The curtain has now closed on the York Knights' debut season in the rugby league Super League, and the York Dungeon has been honoured to be the official matchday entertainment partner for the Knights during this historic spring and summer!

Every match day our Jester has been joined by another rogue from the York Dungeon; Smedley, the Torturer, Guy Fawkes and even the master highwayman Dick Turpin!

Our characters have got up to mischief in the fan zone before kick off; there were indeed "shenanigans"; at the first home game of the season Guy Fawkes actually tried to blow up the stadium!

And then every half time the Jester has entertained the crowd in the LNER Stadium with one of a number of 'orrible, cruel, and downright dastardly half time challenges. A Knights fan found themselves going up against an adversary from invading armies in foul kingdoms such as Warrington, Huddersfield, and even Hull! These challenges ranged from "Dizzy Conversions", to "Striking Viking", to the "Dick Turpin Derby". We even had our own "Wars of the Roses", reserved especially for those foulest of wretches, Lancastrians....

It has been an incredible time seeing how inclusive and welcoming Rugby League is, connecting with local families and those from afar, even if they are from Lancashire.

Thank you York Knights for having us!

Karen Tyson, CMO of York RLFC, had this to say about our debut season officially partnering with the York Knights:

"York Dungeon is a fantastic partner of York RLFC and a great example of how a local business can use sport to make a positive impact within the community.
Our partnership has gone beyond traditional sponsorship. By bringing the York Dungeon experience into the matchday environment, their characters and half-time activations have created memorable experiences for supporters while helping to make Rugby League more accessible, engaging and entertaining for families and the wider York community.

The partnership also demonstrates the power of sport as a platform for local businesses to connect with people. Through York RLFC, York Dungeon has been able to engage directly with thousands of supporters and families, becoming part of the matchday experience and supporting the wider role the club plays in bringing people together through Rugby League.

For us, that community connection is particularly valuable. Sport creates a unique opportunity to reach people of all ages and backgrounds, and York Dungeon has embraced that opportunity in a genuinely creative way.
They are a great example of a local business using partnership, sport and entertainment to engage the community, create memorable experiences and contribute positively to the city of York."
