Got an itching and burning sensation for answers to all your little questions? Lucky for you we've got all the FAQs you could ask, so don't bother us!

The Experience

The London Dungeon is an immersive, walkthrough attraction which whisks you back through the dark history of the capital and puts you face-to-face with the most notorious characters like Guy Fawkes, Jack the Ripper and Sweeney Todd.

There are some shows which are scary and include moments of darkness and occasional jump scares. However, other shows do not have this scary element and are more light-hearted.

The actors will embody the most notorious characters from London's history. They will tell their tales to you and occasionally ask for interactions from the audience. Our actors will not touch you during the tour and we would ask you do not touch them.

Tours last approximately 90 minutes excluding any additional queuing times. The time on your ticket is the time you are allowed to enter the building and queue. Queue times differ depending on attendance levels and can vary from 10-30 minutes.

The tour of The London Dungeon is an English language tour. The London Dungeon is not a scare attraction, nor is it a horror maze, it is an interactive theatrical experience.

Some cultural references are not directly translatable, so for consistency and as we welcome many international guests, English language caters for the vast majority of our visitors.

Many of our non-English speaking guests still enjoy the sights, sounds (and smells!) of London’s gruesome history, however may not experience the attraction in the same way as those proficient in the English language.

If someone in your party wishes to translate, they are of course welcome to, however please be mindful of other guests.

Unfortunately at this time, audio guides are not available

If at any time you need to leave the attraction, simply speak to the actor in the show you are in and they will arrange for someone to help you to the nearest exit as soon as possible.

Pregnant people are welcome at The London Dungeon but please be aware this is a mostly standing or walking experience with little chance to sit down. Also note that for your own health, the Drop Dead Drop ride are not suitable for pregnant people. Members of staff will be happy to show you alternative routes.

The London Dungeon is dark, smelly, noisy and will show you the scarier side of London's history. There are areas which have enclosed spaces and will make you feel scared at some points. If you suffer from claustrophobia or panic attacks, please speak to a member of the team about whether this attraction is suitable for you. If you do have a panic attack in the attraction, then please tell a member of our team or an actor and they will organise your exit to a more calming area.

We have 1 ride at the London Dungeon, Drop Dead: Drop Ride

The minimum height restrictions for Drop Dead Drop Ride is 1.4 metres. All riders must have the ability to sit upright on the ride and brace themselves against the ride forces; wheelchair users must be able to transfer unaided into and out of the ride seats. The Drop Ride is optional and if you fancy a reprieve, you can skip the ride! it is not accessible for guests who are unable to walk unaided or guests who cannot use stairs.

Pop Badges

As part of limited time or special events at selected attractions, POP Badges with selected designs are sometimes available for guests and Merlin Annual Passholders. You can also swap POP Badges, which means if you have a badge and spot a member of our team with a badge on their lanyard with a design that you prefer, you can ask them to swap their badge for one of yours!

Due to the special nature of POP Badges and their exclusive designs, any badges in distribution are subject to availability for a limited time only, and as such availability cannot be guaranteed – all badges, except the starter badges received in new Gold or Platinum Merlin Annual Pass privilege packs, are limited editions so need to be snapped up quick!

If you have seen an attraction release information on a new badge, we recommend planning your visit to them in advance, ensuring a prompt arrival to increase your chance of adding one of these badges to your collection – remember, availability is not guaranteed and is subject to our fair swapping guide below.

When swapping, please remember to follow the Fair Swapping Guide for Collectors:

  • Staff who have POP Badges are sometimes able to swap, however please be considerate if they are currently operating a ride or caring for our animals.
  • Collectors are responsible for their personal collection of POP Badges and our attractions cannot be held accountable for any losses that may occur on the premises.
  • For fair swapping, our POP Badge policy is 1 badge for 1 badge per swap, regardless of the POP Badge’s status or rarity.
  • Be considerate of other people’s collections and do not pressure them to swap something they may want to hold onto for their personal collection.
  • POP Badges are NOT for resale and hold no value. Do not pay someone for POP Badges as they are making unlawful profit from the attraction's intellectual property.

Got a really weird question that no one but you have needed to know before? Then email and get in touch with one of our Dungeon Dwellers.
