HIDE AND SHRIEK - FROM OCTOBER 6TH

The year is 1585, and in a Butchers Shop on the Shambles, Margaret Clitherow leads a double life in the city of York.

To most, she is known as the Butcher's wife, but to the hidden Catholic community, she is a leader of the faith, who hides those who wish to worship in secret.

But in these Elizabethan times, the Catholics are being hunted and persecuted...and it looks like you might be next.

Take refuge in the hidden rooms of Margaret's home, and stay still, don't even breathe...if the law catches you, your fate is sealed!

This new show features darkness, claustrophobia and a fair few surprises!

RUDER, SCARIER, ADULTIER!

The York Dungeon will be opening into the darker hours of the night, with new surprises in its shows. Expect more scares, cheekier jokes and absolutely NO SCREAMING KIDS!

You and your group will be taken back through 10 Live Shows, but with even more twists and turns than usual. But be quick, these events don’t come round often, and remember, they’re strictly 18+ only!

Tickets are now available for:

  • Saturday 13th October 2018

Tours start from 8pm and last 75 minutes, and include a drink in the tavern.

"OMG! WHAT A GREAT TOUR – I HAVE NEVER SCREAMED SO MUCH IN A SHORT SPACE OF TIME, MY NERVES WERE SHATTERED BUT LUCKILY I LAUGHED LOTS TOO, ESPECIALLY DURING THE VERY RUDE BITS!"
- GUY STEPHENSON, TEESIDE

Trick or Treat Walking Tours

Designed just for families, these are perfect for those who want The Dungeon experience, but without all the scary bits, and is perfect for children under 10!

Join our two experienced Dungeon guides as they take you on a tour through the very streets of York. There are fun stories, surprising facts and a lot of general silliness that parents and kids will love!

We’d be quick though, these events are super popular, and tend to sell out.

The Walking Tours are taking place on:

  • 27th – 31st October 2018 (Every Day)

Tours set off at 11am, 2pm and 4pm. Make sure you turn up for the tour you booked!

All children must be accompanied by an Adult aged 18 or over.

DUNGEON CITY BUS TOUR

The history of York is a strange one, in fact there’s a different story from the city’s past on nearly every street corner. Luckily for you, that’s exactly where this Bus Tour will be going (well…not EVERY street corner).

Join characters from The York Dungeon on this Bus Tour with a twist, as they reveal the darker side of York, and the weird but true stories from its 2000 year history. You’ll see famous (and infamous) locations and landmarks, on a tour that promises to be hilarious, scary and 100% true!

And it all takes place on a British Classic, 1960 AEC Routemaster!

The Bus Tour takes place on:

  • October 20th 2018

The night has two tours, setting off at 18:30 and 20:00.

Each tour last approximately 60 minutes; and both are aimed at older families (ages 10 and above).

"I LEARNED A LOT ABOUT HISTORY AND I WISH I COULD GO AGAIN. I REALLY ENJOYED IT!" - BEN, AGED 10
