The White Lady
Don't go breakin' her heart, or she'll go stabbing yours!
What do you get for cheating on the wrong woman? If you're John Forrester, Laird of Corstorphine Manor in 1679, you get a great big sword through your heart, that's what!
Lady Christian Nimmo wasn't a woman you'd have wanted to mess with. When her hapless lover John made that mistake she didn't hang about, but took vengeance on him with his own weapon and went down in history as The White Lady.
At her beheading in Edinburgh in 1679, Lady Nimmo wore a hooded white gown, the garment that earned her her famous nickname. Sightings of her blood-spattered ghost continue to this day at Corstorphine dovecot, the site of her many encounters with the Laird. This Halloween, you'll want to keep your wits about, we hear she's roaming our cellars too...
