Frequently Asked Questions

General

What is the Dungeon?

The Blackpool Tower Dungeon brings together an amazing cast of theatrical actors, special effects, stages, scenes and a ride in a truly unique and exciting walkthrough experience.

Are children permitted into the Dungeon?/Is the Dungeon for everyone?

The Blackpool Tower Dungeon is a dark, smelly, noisy place and will show you the scary side of Lancashire's history. There are areas which have enclosed spaces and will make you feel scared at some points. Due to the nature of the attraction you should expect jump out scares and unexpected frights.

We recommend that the minimum age for a child to enjoy The Blackpool Tower Dungeon is 8 years, however many children under this age visit and have a great time. The Blackpool Tower Dungeon may also not be suitable for those of a nervous disposition.

Can I spend the day in the Dungeons and go on the rides that I liked again, or is there a time limit?

Your ticket is for a tour and due to the set-up of the Dungeon shows, you will not able to re-enter the Dungeon. The tour lasts approximately 1 hour.

Can I take food or drink into the Dungeon?

No food or drink can be consumed in the Dungeon.

How often do the Dungeon tours happen?

The tours start approximately every 15 minutes. However times may vary in the week and at quieter periods. Please see the opening time page for more details.

Are animals permitted in The Blackpool Tower Dungeon?

Animals are not permitted into The Blackpool Tower building with the exception of disability dogs.

Babies, toddlers and under 3s

Children under three years are admitted free to The Blackpool Tower Dungeon, although we only recommend over 8 year olds.

Accessibility

Is the Dungeon accessible for guests with a disability?

Due to the size of the show rooms, a maximum of two guests requiring the use of a wheelchair can be permitted per tour. Mobility scooters are not accessible for the dungeon but a wheelchair can be provided for use within the attraction.

The tour is fully wheelchair accessible up to show nine, when the actors request customer assistance and take the guest down in the lift for the final show. A couple of the rooms have effects in the chairs such as in the Smuggler show the chairs drop back slightly, so these will not be experienced.

Drop Dead: Drop ride to Doom - guests must be able to manoeuvre themselves into the seat and support themselves unaided as there is only a crash bar and no other harness. Amputees whos amputation is above the knee will not be permited to ride due to lap bar safety. Guests who cannot fulfil these criteria will be directed into the gift shop instead.

There is a toilet with disabled access located within this attraction at the beginning of the tour- there are no further toilets within the attraction.

For more information please visit the Accessibility page

Can pregnant women visit the Dungeon?

Yes, however, the tour is approximately 1 hour long and Drop Dead: Drop ride to Doom is not recommended for pregnant women. You can skip the ride and enjoy the rest of the attraction.

Are there any height restrictions in the Dungeon?

To ride Drop Dead: Drop ride to Doom you have to be taller than 1.4 meters and it is not recommended for pregnant women, people with heart conditions or head, neck or back complaints, wear a pacemaker or anyone who has any broken bones. Due to the lap bar restriction, some larger guests may find the ride uncomfortable and therefore may not be able to ride. The drop dead ride is the only area where strobe lighting is used (camera flash).
