Facilities & Accessibility
The Amsterdam Dungeon uses a recommended age of 10 years and older. Children from 12 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult (16 years or older).
Covid-19 – Information for Guests:
As with many businesses, we are actively monitoring the situation with regards the outbreak of Covid-19 coronavirus and are in regular contact with national and local authorities. The advice from the health authorities has not changed, so our business is operating as normal and standard terms and conditions on bookings continue to apply.
The safety and wellbeing of our guests and staff is our priority and we will take all necessary precautions to ensure their continued welfare. As such, and in line with general public health guidance, we have implemented enhanced cleaning regimes throughout The Amsterdam Dungeon and increased the availability of hand sanitisation products, and we ask all guests to observe good hygiene practices during their stay with us.
If you are planning on visiting The Amsterdam Dungeon from an area that has been directly affected by the coronavirus AND if you are showing symptoms similar to those associated with the virus (for example: fever, cough, breathlessness), we please politely ask that do not visit us and instead contact immediately your local health authority or doctor for further advice and instruction. Please then contact us, or your travel agent, regarding your booking.
The Amsterdam Dungeon can be visited in a wheelchair, however, a complete tour can not be experienced. Unfortunately you can not enter the last show due to technical effects of that show. The Amsterdam Dungeon is very dark and navigating through the attraction can be tricky. The Amsterdam Dungeon is not suitable for battery operated electric wheelchairs or scooters. We have a standard wheelchair available for use. Unfortunately we do not have a safe place to store electric wheelchairs or scooters. These will need to be pushed by a carer. Handicapped visitors need to be able to switch from their electric wheelchair or scooter to the standard wheelchair independently. We have three staircases, the first two staircases can be avoided through the use of a lift. The last staircase has a stair lift; the guest will have to be able to get into the stair lift independently to be able to continue the tour. The stair lift has a maximum capacity of one person with a maximal weight of 125 kg. For safety reasons we can only admit one wheelchair in the building at once. For groups with more than one wheelchair, we recommend you to contact us in advance so that we can discuss how we can accommodate your visit to the Amsterdam Dungeon. The Amsterdam Dungeon has mainly levelled floors throughout, although some of the floors can be uneven due to the nature of the attraction. A tour of the Dungeon lasts about 80 minutes, most of which you will be standing.
Pregnant guests or guests with neck or back complaints have to notify a member of staff at entry of the Amsterdam Dungeon. Our staff will highlight anything you will need to be aware of.
The Amsterdam Dungeon is not recommended for people who suffer from claustrophobia.
The Amsterdam Dungeon experience relies predominantly on actors’ and pre-recorded voices, often with dimmed lighting. This can mean that guests with hearing difficulties may find it difficult to fully enjoy the attraction. Hearing impaired guests are welcome to bring a carer for free who can help make the most of your Dungeon’s tour.
The Amsterdam Dungeon is really dark which might cause difficulty in navigating the Dungeon for people who are visually impaired.
Due to health and safety guidelines we are not allowed to welcome guide dogs to the Amsterdam Dungeon. We also believe that, due to the nature of the attraction, it is not the most suitable environment for dogs and it could unsettle some dogs.
The Amsterdam Dungeon has a fully accessible disabled toilet which is located before the 1st show.
Unfortunately it is not possible to bring large bags into The Amsterdam Dungeon for security reasons. Large bags and other baggage can be safely stored at Amsterdam’s Central Station. You can also store your luggage at 'Hoppa Storage Home': Wijde Kapelsteef 1A.
We use a variety of sound and light effects. If you are sensitive to this, please note that participition in the tour is at your own risk.
